Focus collections: Health and gender

Selection of books, DVDs and comics to understand how gender and sex influence health

Gender inequalities in health are based on the same stereotypes and mechanisms as in the rest of society, but also on particular factors, such as the way medical knowledge is developed.

Since 2011, the Faculty of Biology and Medicine has been supporting the “Médecine et Genre” project, which incorporates the gender component into pre-graduate medical education. The aim is to identify the main possible gender distortions (blindness/stereotypes) in clinical practice and to aim for gender-sensitive care in order to improve the quality of care.

This selection of resources as well as recent acquisitions (January 2023) are described online in the Renouvaud catalogue.

The documents are exhibited on the ground floor of the Library (chemin des Falaises 2) during the month of February 2023.
