Ongoing negociations with Springer Nature
No mutualy acceptable agreement has yet been reached for :
- The Springer Compact license (Springer hybrid journals)
- The Nature Journals license (Nature Branded hybrid journals)
- The Springer Nature Gold journals
We therefore find ourselves in a no-deal situation with these publishers.
Negociation will continue in early 2026. What practical consequences will this have ?
Publish in Open Access (OA)
There is no ban to continue publishing in Springer Nature gold or Hybrid journals. However, throughout the negotiation period, and until further notice, publication with these publishers is strongly discouraged for the following reasons :
- The institution will not cover any publication cost in hybrid journals from these publishers
- Neither the UNIL Gold OA Fund nor the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) will provide funding for gold journals from this publishers
Copyrighted publication with sharing of the author’s manuscript in IRIS (green route) is encouraged for all publication in hybrid journals.
For further information or assistance in selecting your titles of interest covered by other agreements, please contact the Library’s Open Access team : open.access@chuv.ch.
