Wiley Gold publication quota reached in September

The Swiss University Libraries Consortium has announced that the annual quota for Open Access publication in Wiley’s Gold journals will be reached in September. This means that the waiver of article processing charges (APCs) for Gold journals with this publisher will come to an end.

What impact will this have on future publications?

APCs will no longer be covered under the Read and Publish agreement between Unil and Wiley for articles accepted after the quota for this publisher’s Gold journals has been exhausted. Neither the FNS nor the Unil Gold Open Access Fund will take over the funding for these publications.

How can you avoid this?

1. Check with the BiUM Open Science Centre team to see if it is still possible to submit to a Wiley Gold journal. Please bear in mind the time required for review.
2. Check the APC amount and whether your department can cover it.
3. Contact the BiUM Open Science Centre to obtain a list of titles similar to the one you have chosen from Wiley, but for which you will receive financial support.
