For Open Access (OA) publishing

From January 2024 and until further notice, there will be no financial support of any kind from the institution for OA publishing with Elsevier.

Your alternative solutions to publish in OA with Elsevier are:

• Financial support from an external funding source
• OA publishing in a hybrid journal choosing the OA green road (by depositing your author’s accepted manuscript on UNIL’s institutional repository SERVAL)

For full text access

A grace period is usually offered by publishers, allowing temporary access to full text. At the end of this period, if no agreement is reached, access to the journals may be interrupted.

Your alternatives for accessing articles from these publishers are:

• Searching for Open Access articles in full text on PubMedCentral
• Searching for articles in their Open Access version, an option facilitated by the use of “search buttons” in web browsers (e.g., Unpaywall, LibKey Nomad )
• Requesting a copy directly from one of the article’s authors
• Searching on Serval for articles produced by our institution
• Using the document delivery service offered by the Medical Library
