The SNSF will no longer fund Open Access articles in special issues

From 1 February 2024, the SNSF will no longer fund Open Access articles in special issues.

Although special issues are excluded from research funding according to SNSF regulations, the volume of this type of publication has increased in recent years. There will therefore be no further financial support from the SNSF to publish in these journals. You may continue to publish in special issues, but the APC costs will be borne by you. With this decision, the SNSF is taking a step towards more sustainable funding of publications and promoting the quality of scientific publications rather than the quantity of articles published by a researcher. You can find more information on the official SNSF website link on the subtitle.

The Library Open Access team can help you choose your titles and advise you on the possibilities of financial support from the SNSF or the institution. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
